HOW TO AND REVIEW: WAH LONDON NAIL ART PEN

Here at The Curiosity Journals, we’re big fans of the old nail art game. I love a pattern to jazz up a block colour, be it just a single finger detail or on every nail. It can be pretty tricky to do some of these designs, with a straight line being a particularly standard but troublesome thing.

Enter Wah London‘s nail art pen. It has two application options, a squeezy nib for freehand drawing, and a long, thin brush for painting lines. I decided to test it out by choosing a design from their Instagram and giving it a go with the pen.

After applying a clear basecoat, I used a lovely minky colour by Wah called ‘Expensive Taste,’ which, by the way, goes on a treat. Having let this dry it was time to whack out the pen. This design only required the white pen, but they come in loads of different colours.

I found it easiest to do this design by drawing the three vertical lines on each nail, and then the horizontal ones. The pen did help create some clean lines, but not necessarily any better than I would get using an alternative thin brush. The key was having a steady hand. That said, the brush held colour well, and I did find using this pen quicker than I have done using another brush.

At seven pounds a pop the pens aren’t overly expensive, and you get 9.5ml so you’ll get a fair amount of usage.

I’ve been converted. It’s a cleaner, quicker process that required minimal tidy up around the edges of the nails. They’re decent value for money, and I’m quite pleased with my home manicure! Yay!
